HVI Lightning Protection
Flexibility and maximum safety: Using the high-voltage-resistant, insulated HVI Conductors from DEHN, you can easily maintain separation distances.
The possible uses of HVI Conductors are extremely diverse and suitable for every application.
Only DEHN offers such a wide range – and over 20 years of experience in insulated lightning protection.
Innovative HVI Conductors:
Safety and design in perfection
The HVI (High-Voltage Insulation) Conductors developed by DEHN have a lightning-current-carrying core that is sheathed with insulating material. This allows you to easily maintain the required separation distance from other conducting parts of the building or electrical lines and pipework, without having to take any further measures.
HVI Conductors can also be installed discreetly behind the façade and can even be painted in the same colour as the building.
For you, this means: optimum adaptation to the building architecture and many design options.
All benefits at a glance
HVI lightning protection for safe, simple and flexible installation
- Safe separation distance: Installation directly next to conductive building parts or electrical lines and pipework.
- Simple installation: Quick, easy and safe thanks to modular components and special tools.
- Aesthetic integration: Customisable colouring for all HVI Conductors with grey sheath.
- Flexible retrofitting: Space-saving HVI lightning protection allows free installation space for future roof superstructures such as PVs or air-conditioning.
- Used in hazardous areas: All HVI variants (Ex zones 2 and 22), HVI light plus, HVI and HVI power (Ex zones 1 and 21)
Types of conductor
The high-voltage-resistant, insulated cables ensure that the separation distance to electrically conductive components is maintained. The range comprises four variants: HVI light, HVI light plus, HVI and HVI power.
When selecting the right conductor, the necessary separation distance is crucial:

HVI light
A major advantage of the HVI light Conductor is its quick and easy installation without the need for a conventional cable sealing end.
Instead, the cable is connected to the supporting tube in the tripod with an adjustment range.
HVI light plus
HVI light plus complements the tried-and-tested HVI Conductor and offers advantages for installation and planning thanks to integrated touch protection, approval for use in hazardous areas and the saving of an additional equipotential bonding connection.
HVI
The HVI Conductor has a wide range of applications. It protects larger roof-mounted structures, antennas or masts with information technology equipment from direct lightning strikes – even in potentially explosive atmospheres.
HVI power
HVI power represents the most powerful version. It is used in particular for buildings with considerable dimensions or increased protection class and safety-related requirements.
Insulated lightning protection system as per DIN/EC TS 62561-8
DEHN products for insulated lightning protection are all tested in accordance with the DIN IEC/TS 62561-8 standard and meet the requirements for components for an insulated lightning protection system. We offer you this safety both with our HVI components and with our products for the isolated air-termination system (such as DEHNiso combi sets and GRP products).
The advantages for you? Guaranteed and tested safety at the highest level and quality in accordance with
international requirements. And not just for individual components, but for entire system solutions.
HVI from DEHN – in use for you since 2003!
HVI – all installation variants tested in accordance with
DIN IEC/TS 62561-8
Please note: The available components of the HVI system have been tested as an overall system. DEHN has neither planned for nor tested the combination of our system with other components available on the market. If third-party system components are nevertheless used in the planning or installation of our HVI system, this will invalidate the warranty claim in accordance with the provision in our General Terms and Conditions of Sale and may adversely affect the functionality of the entire HVI lightning protection system.

informational basis
Calculating wind load
The wind load is particularly important when planning and installing air-termination systems as part of a lightning protection system. Complex building structures require customised air-termination systems. Here you can find out how to calculate the wind load in 5 steps – including a postcode search for the wind zone.
Separation distance is key
Maintaining the separation distance prevents dangerous flashovers between earthed parts of the building and the lightning-current-carrying components of the lightning protection system in order to avoid sparking and any associated personal injuries, property damage or fires.
