High voltage

Terms such as "energy turnaround thanks to renewable energies" or "Smart grid - Intelligent network" are the predominant themes in the news. Renewable energy power plants are built where they can be efficiently used.

Wind turbines can be predominantly found in the North of Germany. To be able to use the energy produced in wind turbines also in other areas of Germany and in Europe, a power supply system must be established that transmits energy over great distances. To keep the transmission loss as low as possible, the energy produced is transformed into high voltage between 110,000 V and 420,000 V.

In this context, uninterrupted supply is a top priority. To be able to efficiently ensure safe maintenance and repair work, tested high-quality products are indispensable. DEHN is your reliable partner.

Working according to the five safety rules

According to the Federal Statistic Office, approximately 50 fatal electrical accidents have been registered in Germany since 2011. To minimise this number, it is mandatory to observe the five safety rules according to EN 50110-1 when working on electrical installations:

  • Disconnect completely
  • Secure against re-connection
  • Verify that the installation is dead
  • Carry out earthing and short-circuiting
  • Provide protection against adjacent live parts
